This year’s nomination pool addressed hundreds of social issues
from around the world, including animal and wildlife welfare,
disaster relief and public safety, education advancement,
environmental protection, health services, human rights and social
justice, and poverty and hunger relief.
To be eligible, programs must address a social problem, have at
least one year of measurable results, and have an office or
headquarters in the U.S. or Canada. All applications required a
360-degree summary of programmatic performance, and were put
through a rigorous evaluation process based on the following
selection criteria: scale, scope and leadership expertise of the
problem being addressed, innovative approach, ability to solve the
problem, and organizational effectiveness and resource
management.
“The Classy Awards has become one of the top forums for
recognizing global social innovation," said Pat Walsh, Co-Founder
and Chief Impact Officer of Classy. "Classy Awards Finalists are
pioneering innovative ideas and technologies that address some of
our greatest social problems, and we're honored to play a role in
recognizing their incredible accomplishments."
Classy Awards Finalists will now be evaluated by the Leadership
Council, an honorary board of top experts and executives from
across the social sector who democratically determine the Classy
Awards Winners. The 10 winners will be announced onstage at the
Classy Awards Ceremony, a part of the three-day Collaborative in
Boston, June 13 to 15, 2017.
